Food and Nutrition

“The food you eat can be either the safest & most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”  ~ Ann Wigmore

There are many varied views on food – even conflicting advice. Some eating styles include Mediterranean, Paleo, Gluten-free, Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw, Atkins, Flexitarian, Clean Eating, Organic and of course omnivore to name a few. Whole-food plant-based (WFPB) food is what I strive for. Studies show animal products should be minimized or even avoided as much as possible from our diets. That is why I aim for a mostly vegan lifestyle with WFPB being the primary focus. For lasting wellness, I avoid processed foods as much as possible. This is something I started, together with my family in 2014 and at first it was easy to dwell on what we couldn’t eat, but now I feel there are so many options that we have a huge library of recipes we all love. Preparing fresh food also promotes a good time to connect in the kitchen. It has also become one of my favourite hobbies and it feels good to know what is in the food we eat as well as knowing that I have control over the nutrition.
