Fitness and Health

Variety is the spice of life and this is my philosophy on fitness and exercise. I aim for a minimum of 30 minutes per day up to about 60 minutes per day. Ideally 30 minutes of more intense exercise like biking or running and another 30 minutes of moderate exercise like walking. Whatever I choose to do, I try to make sure it is varied and that I like doing it. Because at the end of the day, if I don’t like it, I’m probably not going to feel motivated to do it! On days of inclement weather I prefer do a workout inside at home with some of the excellent free online videos like Fitness Blender. It’s important to me not only to do cardio type workouts, but also to keep muscles toned with weight exercises. Here’s what I have in my home workout space. After each workout I try to take the time to stretch and drink plenty of water.

In addition to physical exercise, it’s also important to be kind to your mind! Take time to rest and recharge by getting enough sleep, managing stress and being mindful.
